No two weeks at 126 Squadron are exactly the same

Some evenings focus on practical training, while others might involve teamwork, sport, aviation, leadership or preparation for an event. Activities and opportunities can depend on availability, age, completed training and the wider Royal Air Force Air Cadets programme.

The RAF Air Cadets offer young people exciting opportunities for personal and professional development. We’re an inclusive organisation that cares about helping young people reach their potential. Please see below what we do:

Aviation and aerospace

Explore the science, skills and technology behind flight with our flight simulators. Cadets may learn about aircraft, navigation and the principles of aviation, with the possibility of participating in flying or gliding experiences.

Adventure training (Hiking/Walking, Climbing, Canoeing, Orienting, Mountain Biking)

Step outside your comfort zone through expeditions and outdoor challenges. Learn how to plan, prepare, navigate, solve problems and support your team.

Leadership and Teamwork

Develop the confidence to speak up, make decisions and help others. As you progress, you may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and work towards promotions.

Cyber, radio and communication

Discover how technology and communication support aviation and modern life. Cadets can develop valuable technical and problem-solving skills through cyber and radio-related training.

First Aid

Learn skills that could make a real difference in an emergency. First aid training helps cadets become more confident, responsible and prepared.

Sports

Represent the squadron, challenge yourself and enjoy being active. Activities may include individual and team sports at squadron, wing or higher levels.

Target shooting and marksmanship

Eligible cadets may have opportunities to participate in supervised marksmanship training. All activities are delivered within strict safety, training and age requirements.

Drill and ceremonial activities

Learn discipline, coordination and teamwork through drill. Cadets may also have opportunities to represent the squadron at parades and community events.

Qualifications and awards

Cadet life can help you develop skills and achievements that support future education, employment and volunteering. Opportunities may include progressive training awards, first aid, leadership, communications and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
